Afanasy Fet:

«Nights of winter splendour» – «

Afanasy Afanasyevich Fet (1820 – 1892) was a renowned Russian poet, regarded as one of the finest masters of lyric verse in Russian literature.

There are nights of winter splendour and strength,

There is immaculate beauty,

When under the snow have fallen asleep

The whole steppe and roof, and forests.

Shadows of the summer night have fled,

Their disturbing murmur disappeared,

All the more mighty, the more noticeable

Are the lights of cloudless skies.

As if by an all-seeing will,

For this moment, you were dedicated

To look into the face of sleeping nature

And understand the world’s dream.

Everything is compensated in life. The Covid does not give us truce and it seems that if it continues like this, we will go to another quarantine. That is why these moments are used to the maximum to relax.

  14. These are some of the most famous Russian poets I have presented here in the series of «February» poetry. I translated them all into English because most readers do not understand the Russian language, which is truly as sweet as music and harmonious for the ear. I am glad you like it.
